How does telephony by cable work?
You must be connected to cable TV and have an Internet connection via cable (already a customer or prospective TRN client for television and Internet)
You can use a traditional phone and connect directely to the modem provided by TRN

Can I see the details of my telephone bill?
Yes, it is possible to see the details of your calls directly on our website client space (link on the kiosk VTX of our partner). Your username and password are required for access.
I have an alarm system that operating over the telephone line. Is that compatible with VoIP telephony?
For alarm systems an analogical line is usually required. In that case, you must contact the provider of the alarm system to inquire about those conditions.
What is a softphone?
Can I keep my current Swisscom telephone number?
Yes, it's possible to keep your current telephone number. In order to do so, simply complete the proxy form attached to the telephone contract (transfert request) and TRN will take care of cancelling and transferring your current subscription.The transfer time is approximately three weeks from the installation.
Is it necessary to have a Swisscom subscription to qualify for telephone by cable TV?
No, you don't have to already be a Swisscom client. The Cable Network is totally independent from Swisscom.
By purchasing a subscription for telephony at NRT, the Swisscom connection can be terminated. Therefore payment of a monthly subscription fee of CH 25.25 is no longer necessary.
Is it possible to subscribe at TRN if you already have a subscription ISDN at Swisscom?
Yes, you can keep up to 3 current telephone numbers, (2 analog lines and 1 softphone). Nevertheless it will be necessary to connect the analog telephones to the equipment provided by TRN. Therefore it is not possible to use digital sets (ISDN/RNIS)
Does the fax is supported?
So far, this option is not supported.
Does the existing telephone installation need to be modified?
If one wishes to simply connect a telephone set to the cable modem, it’s not necessary to modify the existing installation.
However, if one wishes to use all existing phone jacks to connect several telephone sets, the Swisscom entry line will need to be disconnected. For this type of installation, we suggest that you hire an electrician.
Rates
How do TRN’s prices compare to those of their competitors?
The basic monthly subscription is less expensive than traditional telephony (CHF 20.- in stead of 25.25, with 3 numbers instead of 1). As for call prices, they are quite competitive, (CHF 3.9 cts Swiss fixed) and are the same price 24h/24h 7/7. And each month, you receive 300 min. of free calls to the fixed network of 41 countries, including Switzerland.
What about international rates? Price list, special conditions?
Are calls to listen to messages on the answering machine free?
Calls to listen to the answering machine are free and not deducted from monthly minutes offered.
Is it possible to use prepaid phone cards or carrier selection code?
Yes, prepaid cards using 800 numbers, 084x operate on the TRN network without restrictions. Prepaid cards using 090x numbers work as long as the option of blocking 090x numbers has not been activated by default.
Is it possible to be screened at another operator while subscribed as a client at TRN?
No, no pre-arrangement exists with other telephone operators.
Do the free minutes offered apply to each number?
The 300 minutes offered are shared with all numbers included in the offer.

How can clients subscribe?
By visiting our office, located at Route de Champ-Colin 6 in Nyon.
By downloading and completing the client area on our Internet site, including the subscription contract, the description of our General Conditions (contract to be sent by fax or mail).
Is it possible to purchase the modem provided by TRN?
No, TRN equipment is not for sale. In this manner, TRN will guarantee repair service no matter how old the modem is. In the event of changes in technology, TRN with then exchange the equipment free of charge.
If a client is currently subscribed to Swisscom and chooses to subscribe to TRN, will they still continue to receive the Telephone Directory free of charge?
Yes, the Telephone Directories are sent free of charge to customers of TRN.
Do phone numbers of TRN subscribers appear in the Telephone Directory?
Yes, however it is possible to choose whether or not to appear in the Telephone Directory by checking the box provided for this purpose in our contract. For additional listings, please apply directly to Directories.
Can I choose a new phone number, and if so, to what extent?
Yes, you may choose a new phone number since TRN has a wide range of numbers assigned by l’OFCOM (Federal Office of Communication). TRN can give you several numbers to choose from.
How can a client go about cancelling their Swisscom number if they wish to change their number and get a new one from TRN?
The client must cancel their own subscription with Swisscom.
They can, however, sign a contract with TRN and activate their new phone number upon installation.
How does a client go about cancelling their Swisscom connection if they wish to keep their current phone number?
All they must do is sign the proxy attached to the telephony contract and TRN will cancel the connection for them.
How much cancellation notice is there for a Swisscom connection?
The cancellation notice for a Swisscom connection is 2 months, for the end of a month.
If a phone number has been commuted to TRN, how can clients be sure that their old connection isn’t still functioning and that they need to connect their telephone to the equipment supplied by TRN?
TRN will indicate the date when the change will be take place. The numbers are transferred once daily. At that time, the transfer may cause the phone line to be unavailable for 30 minutes. (During the transfer time, the client is not connected by their former supplier and not yet to the new one).
Connections
Is it possible to reuse old digital sets (ISDN / RNIS) with TRN equipment?
No, it’s not possible at this time. The TRN equipment being the interface between the IP network and the telephone equipment does not allow connecting of analog telephones, modems or answering machines.
Is it possible to subscribe to TRN if you have an ISDN subscription with Swisscom?
Yes, you can keep up to 3 current phone numbers (2 analog lines and 1 soft phone). It will be necessary however, to connect the analog telephone sets to the equipment provided by TRN.
With a subscription to one single number with TRN, is it possible to use the two separate outlets in the telephone adaptor to connect two phones?
No, the two outlets in the telephone adapters are connected to two separate phone numbers. If the subscriber has one single number (one line), only one outlet will be activated. However, two telephones can be connected by using a special cable designed for this purpose. (Y cable or jump wire).
With the TRN Family subscription, it’s possible to have 3 separate phone numbers: 2 analog lines and one soft phone line.
Does the existing telephone installation need to be modified?
If one wishes to simply connect a telephone set to the cable modem, it’s not necessary to modify the existing installation.
However, if one wishes to use all existing phone jacks to connect several telephone sets, the Swisscom entry line will need to be disconnected. For this type of installation, we suggest that you hire an electrician.
For a TRN Internet access subscriber, is it possible to plug a phone into the existing modem.
No, to access the telephone service, it’s necessary to have a particular modem. The new equipment allows simultaneous access to telephony and Internet. The exchange will be carried out free of charge and without modification in the monthly bill.
When building a new structure, is it obligatory to install a Swisscom connection.
Installation with Swisscom is not an obligation. Simply installing a cable TV line is sufficient, because it allows you to obtain radio and TV programmes, Telephony services and access to Internet.
Is it possible to use the telephone cables in the house or apartment if one plans to connect TRN equipment on the Swisscom outlets?
Yes, it’s possible. However the subscriber is responsible for the installation. It is preferable to hire an electrician. Indeed, the telephone installation (phone jack) could still be connected to Swisscom even if it appears to be deactivated (no dial tone). Installing TRN equipment on this connection could cause damages to the existing Swisscom equipment as well as to the TRN equipment. In that case, the customer would then be held responsible for any damages and would be required to pay any repairs to the damaged material.
Can an existing business telephone exchange be connected to TRN?
TRN’s offer only applies to residential analog customers; therefore it is not possible to connect a business telephone exchange.
Is it possible to send faxes using the TRN connection?
At this time, this option is not available.
Can I install several phones at different places in the house catches on RJ45 network and also have access to the Internet?
Yes. The best choice for an individual is to use IP DECT telephones, a handset can have its own telephone number.
If you prefer fixed-line phones, it is also possible to connect telephones (Thomson ST2022 and ST2030, or Aastra 5xi), and to connect a PC: an RJ-45 linked to the phone with a switch to connect a computer for Internet access.
Features
Does the telephone set indicate when there are messages waiting?
No, at this time, text message functions that are necessary to provide this service are not yet featured in TRN equipment.
Does the answering machine work on all connected telephones?
Access to the answering machine messages is carried out via tones used to call a number.
Can clients access their answering machine from any fixed or mobile telephone in Switzerland?
Yes. It is possible from any telephone by dialling 086 and then your number.
Is an answering machine available with the TRN subscription?
Yes, an answering machine is included for each phone number. You can also receive your voice messages at your E-mail address as attachments.
Is caller ID available with the TRN subscription?
Yes, if your telephone set is equipped with the Caller ID display function.
Are emergency numbers still accessible?
All telephone operators are legally obliged to guarantee access to emergency numbers. These numbers thus defined by l'OFCOM (112, 117, 118, 144, ...) can be reached by TRN customers.
If the customer moves, he must inform TRN of his new address thus allowing the emergency services to locate the call (exact address) in the event of an emergency.
Is it possible to block calls to 090x numbers?
Yes, it is possible to bloc calls only to 0906 numbers (erotic content), or all 090x, numbers (0900, 0901 et 0906). Simply call the TRN service number; the operator will execute the request immediately. The administrator of the VoIP service can also apply this service to all of their TRN telephone lines.
What other services are available through TRN?

Calls
Is it possible to make phone calls and watch the TV simultaneously?
Yes, the two services are entirely independent of one another. There is no loss of image or sound quality while the phone is in use.
Is it possible to make phone calls and surf on Internet simultaneously?
Yes, it is possible to make and receive calls when using Internet. The quality of the phone connection and Internet speed is only slightly reduced (110 ko per conversation).
Can we call information from the cable TV telephone line?
Yes, telephony over cable TV allows calls the same calls as traditional telephony.
Can one make emergency calls from a phone connected by cable TV?
Yes, except if there is a power outage or cable failure.
Warning: the telephone is connected to a modem cable that operates on electricity. If a power outage affecting the subscriber’s home or in the event of a cable failure or for any other reason, the cable modem will be out of order. This means that the telephone service will also be unavailable for the duration of the power outage or cable failure.
In cases such as this, you need to use an alternative form of communication (for example a mobile phone) to make emergency calls.
Are there destinations that cannot be reached?
No, there are no restrictions on international or local calls.
How do I dial a local or mobile number?
Calls are made in exactly the same manner as with a traditional telephone service. No prefix is needed.
What is a local call?
A local call is made from a fixed phone to a number in Switzerland. Calls to emergency numbers, special numbers (090x) or mobile phones are considered other categories.
How does one use a telephone service by cable TV?
The telephone service by cable TV works exactly like a regular phone. When the phone handset is picked up, there is a regular dial tone and then any number can be dialled.
Is it necessary to have a computer to use make phone calls with cable TV?
No, it’s possible to make phone calls by cable TV with TRN without the computer turned on. However you may also from your telephone number with your computer.
I’m not able to receive any incoming calls. When someone dials my number, it doesn’t ring. What do I do?
Check to see that your SIP account has been saved on our server; test it by making an outgoing call (to your mobile phone for example).
If your telephone set is connected to a router, check to see that it allows data packets for VoIP SIP type service. Refer to the owner’s handbook.
Check to be sure that you have not activated the automatic call deviation of calls during absence, which you can do by connecting to your profile in the client space of our partner site http://kiosk.vtx.ch
Will my number remain unpublished in the Telephone Directories if it’s transferred from my old operator?
Any number transferred remains unchanged according to Swisscom reference rules (directories, unpublished, etc.). However, if you wish to modify your address, we need to be advised of the changes.
I can’t make any outgoing calls. What do I do?
You need to reboot your computer. That entails turning off your installation (PC, modem, rooter, and Wi-Fi) for about 10 seconds, then turn it back on in the order shown on the modem (wait until all lights are back on), as well as the Wi-Fi (do the same for it), and lastly your computer.
